Reid Investments Ltd. and the related respondents have been in court-appointed receivership since November 2, 2017, when the Court of King's Bench of Alberta appointed Alvarez & Marsal Canada Inc. receiver and manager on the application of Royal Bank of Canada under section 243 of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and sections 13(2) of the Judicature Act and 65(7) of the Personal Property Security Act, in court file 1703 21274. A preliminary list of creditors as at November 2, 2017, submitted by the debtor without admission as to liabilities, records secured claims of $35,217,103.40 and $26,979,528.70 to Royal Bank of Canada and $27,156,919.00 to Canada ICI Capital Corporation. The largest unsecured claims are intercompany, led by Reid Investments Ltd. at $12,461,607.43 and Builder's Direct Supply Ltd. at $11,695,749.00. The receivership is active.
The officer filed report no. Twentieth Report. The Receivership has substantially wound down after completing 68 asset transactions realizing $130.2 million; the Receiver is now addressing the CRA's pre-filing GST claims and has assigned four Reid Group entities into bankruptcy.
