Metro Group of Companies remains under a court-appointed receivership commenced 20 January 2021, when the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, on the application of Bank of Montreal, appointed BDO Canada Limited receiver and manager under section 243(1) of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, section 13(2) of the Judicature Act and section 65(7) of the Personal Property Security Act, in court file 2101 00809. A Statement of Affairs prepared by the receiver for Metro Paving & Roadbuilding Ltd. as at 20 January 2021 shows nil total assets against liabilities of $15,440,938.42, a deficiency of the same amount, comprising $9,349,731.34 in unsecured claims and $6,091,207.08 in the balance of secured claims. Bank of Montreal is listed at $3,825,595.88 and LaFarge Canada Inc. at $2,265,611.20, each with security valued at nil. The receivership is active.
