Light Speed Logistics Inc., a refrigerated carrier of perishable food across North America, and its affiliate Light Speed Holdings Inc. are in three concurrent court-appointed receiverships in the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, each brought by a secured lender over its own collateral. Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, owed in excess of $28,000,000, obtained a receivership order over certain assets on December 5, 2025, with Grant Thornton Limited as receiver. On December 8, 2025, Ernst & Young Inc. was appointed limited receiver over equipment financed by National Bank of Canada, and MNP Ltd. receiver over equipment financed by Business Development Bank of Canada and all assets of Light Speed Holdings.

The real property was sold to SFI Properties Canada Inc. for $18,000,000, closing June 29, 2026. A trustee reported on May 13, 2026 that it expects a shortfall to secured creditors and no distribution to unsecured creditors.

Grant Thornton asks the court on November 12 to bar carriers' claims against Light Speed's customers unless filed by December 22, and to direct the seven primary customers to pay what it treats as undisputed — $4,920,237 of the $8,495,077 demanded, after $2,177,520 of set-offs it accepts and $1,397,320 it has not admitted.

Nine months after three lenders put the Alberta refrigerated carrier into three receiverships, Grant Thornton holds about $4.36 million and asks the court on September 23 to send roughly $2.66 million of it to CIBC, owed about $28.7 million — and to make customers who cite set-offs or claims from carriers Light Speed hired, among seven owing about $8.5 million, produce their papers by October 9.
