Woodbine Mall Holdings Inc. and Fantasy Fair and Kids Village Inc. obtained CCAA protection on April 17, 2026 in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List), file CL-26-00000143-0000, with Ernst & Young Inc. as monitor and a stay to April 27, 2026. The companies had been under court supervision since May 8, 2023, when the same firm was appointed receiver and manager on Romspen Investment Corporation's application over their property and that of Sunpact Holdings Inc., Birchmount Howden Property Holdings Inc., Consolidated Group of Companies Canada Inc. and Close Out King Corp. Woodbine Mall and Rexdale Mall have continued to operate. A reverse vesting order followed on April 28, 2026, with 1001588134 Ontario Inc. as residual company. The receivership also produced litigation over a $4 million deposit after the Birchmount purchase agreement failed to close on the scheduled closing date, when the vendor tendered.
The officer filed report no. Ninth Report. ResidualCo remains the sole CCAA debtor while the Monitor works through post-closing issues from the completed Woodbine Transaction; once resolved, the Monitor intends to seek court approval to make an assignment in bankruptcy on ResidualCo's behalf.
