Milarm Co. Ltd. and 1903083 Alberta Ltd. are subject to insolvency proceedings commenced December 13, 2017, in the Court of King's Bench of Alberta (court file no. 1701-21513), on the application of Royal Bank of Canada; Grant Thornton Limited was appointed receiver. The receiver's report placed the liquidation value of the companies' firearms, tactical gear and clothing inventory at $350,000, based on a November 13, 2017 appraisal it said it had not verified for reasonableness. Royal Bank of Canada and Merchant Advance Capital each hold a PPSA registration against the companies; the receiver's report does not acknowledge the amounts owing or the security claimed by either. A creditor listing (Appendix A) shows Royal Bank of Canada for $486,158.46 and Stoeger Canada for $118,878.74, among numerous trade creditors, with Allan Kerr and Sharon Kerr's claim amount noted as 'to be filed.'
The officer filed report no. First Report. The Receiver took possession of the debtors' premises, investigated a large number of missing consigned firearms that had been diverted through a consignment arrangement with Capital City Group, recovered some firearms, and intends to liquidate recovered assets and return consigned inventory to owners.
