Grace Road Lines Ltd. and Goodwill Enterprises Ltd. have been in court-appointed receivership since January 22, 2025, when the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, on application by Royal Bank of Canada under section 243(1) of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and section 13(2) of the Judicature Act, appointed Grant Thornton Limited as Receiver and Manager, stayed proceedings, and granted a first-ranking Receiver's Charge together with a Receiver's Borrowings Charge securing $500,000. The Receiver ceased GRL operations, terminated employees, inventoried assets and ran an auctioneer RFP that produced a binding agreement with Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (Canada) Ltd. The GRL Fleet auction realised sale proceeds of $5,445,315 against a net minimum guarantee of $5,600,000. The receivership remains active, with real property listings, a proposed settlement, WEPP and insurance claims outstanding.
Third Report reported the GRL Fleet auction closed at $5,445,315 against a $5,600,000 net minimum guarantee, the Bone Yard listing with Avison Young, the proposed Conrich Settlement and subdivision with Longair, WEPP and Intact claims, and receipts and disbursements to September 4, 2025.
