Five Star Charters Ltd. was placed in receivership on March 11, 2026, when the Supreme Court of British Columbia appointed Crowe MacKay & Company Ltd. receiver on the application of the Business Development Bank of Canada under section 243(1) of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and section 39 of the Law and Equity Act. The bank is owed $869,249.33 as at the date of judgment, outstanding in full, under marine loan agreements dated April 21, 2017 and April 25, 2017 secured by marine mortgages on the vessels SuperCat and Kuluta, a general security agreement over all present and after-acquired personal property and a purchase money security interest against each vessel. The proceeding is active under court file VIC-S-S-2512623.
