5 Star Operations Holding Ltd. and 5 Star Services and Products Inc. have been in court-appointed receivership in the Court of King's Bench of Alberta since March 12, 2026, when Ernst & Young Inc. was appointed receiver and manager on the application of Bank of Montreal, court file 2503 25728. BMO's three loans stood at $2,076,679.12, $436,441.36 and $316,656.63 as at December 30, 2025, secured by a mortgage of the Lands and general security agreements. On July 8, 2026 the court approved the sale of the Lands to Dynamic Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. and an auction sale of the Property through McDougall Auctioneers. The receiver reports the vast majority of the assets sold by auction and is winding down the companies' affairs.

5 Star: suits, badges and a bankruptcy to reorder the Crown's claims
A Sherwood Park formal-wear and police-uniform business and the company that owned its building went into a consent receivership for Bank of Montreal in March. By August 19, 2026 the building had a court-approved buyer at a sealed price, the auction had grossed a preliminary $227,165, the receiver's charge had risen to $350,000, and both companies had been adjudged bankrupt on BMO's application, which the bank said would reverse the priority of the Canada Revenue Agency's claims.
