The Urban Environment Centre (Toronto), carrying on business as Greensaver, has been in court-appointed receivership in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice since November 8, 2022, on file 22-00688920-00CL. Its senior secured lender, The Toronto-Dominion Bank, issued a section 244 demand on October 7, 2022 requiring payment by October 17, when the demand operating facility stood at $3,846,814.79. The receiver has redeemed and sold secured assets carrying equity through a Can-Am auction and released assets with no equity to the respective equipment financiers. As at February 11, 2025 the TD Bank Debt totalled $2,819,814, including $117,782 of legal fees, and TD is expected to suffer a significant shortfall. Ranking ahead of it are CRA's $59,618.35 HST deemed trust and Service Canada's $291,007.05 subrogated WEPP claim under BIA s. 81.4.
