Serendipity Media Ltd. has been in court-appointed receivership since January 3, 2024, when the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) appointed Deloitte Restructuring Inc. as receiver and manager on the application of Bank of Montreal, brought under section 243(1) of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and section 101 of the Courts of Justice Act in Court File No. CV-23-00712124-00CL. The application was filed December 22, 2023. Unaudited statements prepared by the debtors put assets of the Serendipity Group of Companies at $35,559,197 as at January 3, 2024, against reported secured claims of $24,531,729 and unsecured claims of $879,500; the receiver has not verified those figures. Bank of Montreal's secured claim is listed at $20,373,214, and the Canada Revenue Agency asserts a GST deemed trust of $2,987,333 as at January 9, 2024. The receivership remains active.
