Mario's Catering Services Ltd. and related debtors, including 2150386 Ontario Inc., have been under a court-appointed receivership since May 15, 2025, brought under section 243 of the BIA and provincial Judicature Act authority. Bank of Montreal, identified as senior ranking secured creditor on its PPSA search, issued a demand and notice of intention to enforce security on October 7, 2024, claiming $8,395,830.55 from Mario's Catering, operating as Michelangelo Banquet Centre, and $6,101,330.51 from 2150386 Ontario Inc., each calculated to October 1, 2024. The Bank holds a general security agreement, an $8,375,000 demand collateral mortgage and an assignment of rents over 1555 Upper Ottawa Street, Hamilton, plus guarantees from three corporate entities and Aftab Elahi, each capped at $8,375,000. CRA has registered liens against both the Ottawa Street and Barton Street properties. The proceeding remains active.
