LAWL Maritimes Inc.

LAWL Maritimes Inc. has been in receivership in Ontario since December 12, 2008, with Shiner Kideckel Zweig Inc. acting as receiver under section 246(1) and Rule 125 of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. The receiver's notice identifies six secured creditors collectively owed $713,000, each holding a general security agreement: Old Laurel Investments Limited at $176,450; Myriad Holding Corporation, Allan Brown in Trust and Harry Gorman in Trust at $132,350 each; Diet Success Corp. at $95,100; and Ralph Soberano in Trust at $44,125. The unsecured creditor list is dominated by media, landlord and utility claims across the Atlantic provinces, the largest being L A Weight Loss Franchise Company of Horsham, Pennsylvania at 242,645.09, CTV Television at $149,656.07 and Newfoundland Broadcasting Co Ltd at $79,601.95. The proceeding remains active.
