2801515 Ontario Inc. was placed in court-appointed receivership on March 24, 2025, by order of Justice Steele of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List), on the application of Royal Bank of Canada filed March 12, 2025, under section 243(1) of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and section 101 of the Courts of Justice Act. Grant Thornton Limited was appointed receiver. RBC, the only party with a registered PPSA security interest and first-ranking secured creditor over the company's real property, had demanded $1,693,466.72 as of November 26, 2024, exclusive of legal fees, disbursements and accruing interest, under a mortgage registered September 17, 2021, a general security agreement dated March 2, 2023, and a chattel mortgage dated October 8, 2022. Directors Hamida Patel and Samir Shaikh had given a joint and several guarantee limited to $1,735,110, later postponed to RBC.
Justice Steele granted the receivership order, appointing Grant Thornton Limited receiver of 2801515 Ontario Inc.
